Validated with your browser's real XML parser. Error messages come straight from the parser, nothing is guessed.
Frequently asked questions
How does the validator work?
Your XML is parsed by your browser’s real built-in XML parser (the same engine behind DOMParser). If the XML is broken, the exact error message from the parser is shown, including what went wrong, nothing is guessed or made up.
What counts as invalid XML?
Common problems are unclosed tags, mismatched tag names, unescaped ampersands or angle brackets in text, bad nesting, and multiple root elements. The validator reports the first error the parser hits.
Does the formatter change my data?
Pretty-printing only changes whitespace between elements. Text content, attributes, comments and CDATA sections are preserved exactly. Minify mode removes the whitespace again without touching the data.
