Frequently asked questions
What is a user agent string?
It is a text identifier your browser sends to every website, describing the browser, version, operating system and device. Developers read it to serve the right layout or debug compatibility issues.
Why does my Windows version show as 10 / 11?
Modern browsers freeze the Windows version token at NT 10.0 for privacy, so Windows 10 and 11 look identical in the user agent. The exact version is no longer exposed.
Can you detect Brave browser?
Not from the user agent alone. Brave deliberately uses the same string as Chrome to avoid fingerprinting, so it is reported as Google Chrome here. That is honest behavior, not a bug.
