Frequently asked questions
How does the text to speech tool work?
It uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis (the Web Speech API), so the voices you hear are the ones installed on your device and operating system. Nothing is uploaded or processed on a server.
Can I change the voice, speed and pitch?
Yes. Pick any voice your browser offers from the dropdown, and drag the rate slider (0.5x to 2x) or the pitch slider (0x to 2x) to fine tune how the speech sounds.
Why do I see a not-supported message?
Very old browsers lack the speech synthesis API. Update to a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari and the tool will work.
