Data comes from crt.sh, the public Certificate Transparency log search. It lists certificates browsers have seen, which is normally the live one.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the checker need certificate transparency logs?
Browsers cannot read a site certificate with plain JavaScript, so this tool queries crt.sh, the public log of certificates authorities have issued. It shows the certificate the world sees, which is normally the live one.
What should I do if a certificate is expiring soon?
Renew it through your hosting provider or certificate authority before the expiry date. An expired certificate triggers browser warnings that scare visitors away and can hurt search rankings.
The tool says crt.sh did not respond. Is something broken?
Not on your site. The crt.sh service occasionally blocks or times out browser requests. Wait a minute and retry, or verify the certificate directly in your browser via the padlock icon.
