This checker covers common types (FAQPage, Article, Product, LocalBusiness, Organization, Recipe, Event, BreadcrumbList, WebPage). It is a helpful pre-check, not a replacement for Google Rich Results Test.
Frequently asked questions
What does this validator actually check?
Three things: that the input is valid JSON, that the context references schema.org, and that each schema type includes its required fields plus the recommended ones Google likes to see. Missing recommended fields are flagged, not failed.
Is this the same as Google Rich Results Test?
No. Google Rich Results Test is the official tool and the final word on eligibility. Use this validator as a quick pre-check while you write markup, then confirm with Google before publishing.
My type is not in the list. What happens?
Unknown types get generic checks only (valid JSON, schema.org context, @type present) with a note that type-specific rules were not applied. The common types most sites use are all covered.
