Is my PDF or password uploaded anywhere?
No. Encryption happens entirely in your browser with the pdf-lib library. Your file and your password never leave your device.
What kind of protection does this add?
It encrypts the PDF with the password you choose using the PDF standard's built-in encryption, so the file cannot be opened without it. Printing is allowed, but modifying and copying text are disabled.
What if I forget the password?
There is no recovery. The tool does not store your password anywhere, so a forgotten password means the file cannot be opened. Keep it somewhere safe.
