Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between encode and decode?
Encode turns special characters like <, > and & into safe HTML entities such as <. Decode reverses it, turning entities back into readable characters.
Why do some characters become numbers like ©?
Common characters use named entities like ©. Anything without a standard name gets a numeric code, which every browser renders correctly.
Is my code sent to a server?
No. All encoding and decoding happens locally in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you paste ever leaves your device.
