The rules use standard, widely used Apache directives. Always back up your existing .htaccess first and test your site after uploading. If anything breaks, restore the backup.
Will this work on my hosting?
It works on Apache servers with mod_rewrite enabled, which covers most shared hosting. It does not work on Nginx servers, which use a different configuration format.
