Does it count combined emojis like families correctly?
Yes. The extractor uses a unicode-aware pattern that keeps ZWJ sequences (like family emojis), skin tone modifiers, flags, and keycap digits together as single emojis.
Why do some emojis show as two separate entries?
A few platform-specific or brand-new emojis may not be in the unicode data your browser exposes yet. The vast majority of common emojis group correctly.
