Queries run against dns.google (Google Public DNS over HTTPS). Results are cached briefly by Google, so very recent DNS changes may take a few minutes to appear.
Frequently asked questions
What do MX and TXT records tell me?
MX records show which mail servers handle email for the domain, useful when setting up business email. TXT records often hold SPF, DKIM and verification tokens that prove domain ownership and fight email spoofing.
Why does the lookup say a domain does not exist?
NXDOMAIN means no DNS records were found for that name. Double-check the spelling, or the domain may have expired or never been registered.
I just changed my DNS. Why do I see old records?
Google caches answers for the duration of each record TTL. Wait out the TTL (often 5 minutes to a few hours) and look the domain up again.
