Frequently asked questions
What is the ASCII table?
ASCII is a character encoding standard that maps 128 characters (letters, digits, punctuation and control codes) to the numbers 0 to 127. It is the foundation of text on computers, and UTF-8 is backward compatible with it.
What are the control characters (0-31 and 127)?
Control characters are non-printable codes that originally controlled printers and terminals, like NUL, TAB, LF (line feed) and ESC. Toggle "Control chars only" above to browse them with their names.
How do I use the HTML entity column?
Write the entity exactly as shown, for example A in your HTML to display the letter A. Click any row to copy the character itself to your clipboard.
