Frequently asked questions
What is the A1Z26 cipher?
It replaces each letter with its position in the alphabet: A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, up to Z = 26. It is a simple substitution cipher often used in puzzles.
How do I decode numbers with dashes or commas?
The decoder accepts dashes, spaces, commas, semicolons and line breaks between numbers, so 8-5-12-12-15, 8 5 12 12 15 and 8,5,12,12,15 all decode to hello.
What happens to numbers outside 1 to 26?
They cannot be letters, so the tool flags them as invalid and leaves them out of the decoded text instead of guessing.
